He has a diverse professional background, combining both academic and industry experience. From 2015 to 2017, he served as a Lecturer at Adama Science and Technology University in Adama, Ethiopia, where he imparted knowledge and expertise to students. Prior to that, from 2011 to 2014, he worked as an Assistant Professor at Vel Tech Engineering College in Tamil Nadu, India, contributing to the academic development of aspiring engineers. In addition to his academic roles, he also has industry experience, having worked as a GIS Analyst at EDR Continuous Information Pvt Ltd in Chennai, India, from 2010 to 2011. During this time, he was involved in projects such as 3D Building Extraction and Lidar Point Classification. Prior to that, in 2010, he worked as a GIS Analyst at Empower Consultancy in Chennai, India, where he contributed to projects involving cluttering and GPS data collection. Achievements:

He participated in several Kaggle-InClass prediction competitions in late 2019, showcasing his skills in machine learning and data analysis. In November 2019, he tackled the challenge of seismic capability evaluation for school buildings, where he utilized Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithms. Despite the tough competition, he ranked 80 among 96 individuals, placing in the top 84%. In December 2019, he shifted his focus to steel number detection, employing transfer learning with ResNet50 to predict the number of rebars in images. His efforts paid off, securing a ranking of 16 among 31 teams, putting him in the top 52%. In the same month, he took on the damage state classification challenge, once again leveraging transfer learning with ResNet50. His performance was outstanding, earning him a ranking of 20 among 32 teams, placing him in the top 20%. Through these competitions, he demonstrated his proficiency in machine learning techniques and his ability to tackle complex real-world problems with innovative solutions.

Amir Noori is a Ph.D. Candidate at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Ottawa, Canada. He received his M.Sc. in Water Resource Engineering and Management. His research interests are directed at water resources planning, Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods, Climate Change, and RS and GIS. Results obtained from his research have been published in multiple papers in international journals.

Education:

He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering at the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada. His research focuses on the rehabilitation planning of municipal water distribution networks under the impacts of climate change, with Prof. Hossein Bonakdari as his supervisor. Prior to this, he obtained his M.Sc. in Water Resources Engineering and Management from Razi University in Kermanshah, Iran, where he achieved a GPA of 16.81 out of 20. His master’s thesis, supervised by Prof. Hossein Bonakdari, involved the development of an optimal water supply plan using integrated fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making methods. He also holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering-Water from the Islamic Azad University, Central Tehran Branch, Tehran, Iran, with a GPA of 15.52 out of 20. Throughout his academic journey, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to water resources management and engineering research.

Previously, he worked as a Scientific Researcher at the Department of Surface Water in the Regional Water Authority of Kermanshah, Iran, under the supervision of Dr. Ali Fattahi. His extensive research experience also includes a role as a Research Assistant at the Department of Civil Engineering at Razi University in Kermanshah, Iran, from 2016 to 2019, supervised by Prof. Hossein Bonakdari. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong dedication to advancing knowledge and expertise in civil and water engineering.

He has been recognized for his academic achievements with various prestigious scholarships and grants. Notably, he was awarded the Admission Scholarship of the University of Ottawa, Canada, spanning from January 2023 to January 2027, followed by the Special Merit Scholarship of the Faculty of Engineering at the same university, covering the period from January 2023 to January 2024.
